We have finally reached the tail end of Niantic’s staggered release of Gen 3 into Pokémon GO, and this new batch contains some of the most attractive offerings yet, as the group is mainly made up of flying a and dragon types, along with a few others.
While there will be a few stragglers left behind in Gen 3 after this wave, you will be able to fill up the vast majority of your Pokedex starting today, helped out further by the fact that Niantic is making it so that only Gen 3 Pokémon are spawning in the wild until February 13th.
So, who was added to the game today? Here’s the list right now via Silph Road, which may grow as more are discovered:
It’s too early to tell if there’s another regional Pokémon in this batch, but that has usually been the case with past releases, so we’ll have to wait a little while until we figure out who that might be. I’m starting to lose track of the locations that still don’t have access to their own regionals. I feel like it might be Africa’s turn? We’ll know soon enough, I suppose. So far, the primary suspects are Volbeat, Tropius and Illumise as regionals.
Even though Gen 3 is now 90% releases, as ever, there are still a few stragglers that include special evolutions or mythical Pokémon that Niantic doesn’t seem to know what to do with yet. Pokémon like Ditto and Delibird took a while to enter the game, and others like Mew and Celebi are still absent, the idea that hopefully Niantic has unique plans for mythics some time in the future.
For now, get out there and hunt down some Gen 3s. Remember, from now until the 13th it is only Gen 3s out there in the wild, so you will probably not get another chance like this any time soon.
