Community Day is a massive event in the Pokemon GO monthly calendar, and although the game might have only just finished with the April event involving Marrep, the next update for the game is, in theory, right around the corner.
Developer Niantic usually announces their plans for the next Pokemon Community Day just a few days after the conclusion of the last Community Day.
We've had four events so far, and in the case of the first two, trainers found out Niantic's plans for the next community day just two days after the Saturday event.
Likewise, two days after the community day for Bulbasaur, Niantic once again revealed the April Community Day Pokemon.
So it's possible we could learn which pokemon will be fronting the May Community Day as early as tomorrow, Tuesday 17th April.
As for which Pokemon could be the new star of the show for the Community Day, well take it with a huge pinch of salt, but rumours are already circulating that Niantic may have revealed that info already.
A quick look at the Silph Road subreddit reveals a thread in relation to some communication with a Niantic Support agent, who revealed Charmander would be the games next Community Day Pokemon.
For now this information remains unverified and Silph Road's official leader, DronPes, also stickied a comment to the top of the thread saying:
"This information was unable to be verified by the Silph Road team, travelers. While it's absolutely possible, we'd recommend taking this with a healthy grain of salt until the official announcement comes out (likely tomorrow)."
"In the meantime, this post will remain removed, pending verification from SPARKisnumber1."
It's unlikely that this information will be revealed in time, but thankfully fans won't have to wait long for the official announcement should Niantic stick to their formula of revealing the next community day plans in the next 24 hours.
It is clear though from comments that a lot of players would love to see Charmander as the Pokemon of choice. Especially if it allows players to obtain a shiny Black Charizard in the process.
As mentioned, the majority of Community Day factors should stay fairly consistent.
For instance, the next community day will likely run for three hours, starting at 10am UK time and ending at 1pm As part of the Community Day event, trainers will not only be rewarded with an abundance of one Pokemon in parks, but also additional Stardust and XP bonuses.
Likewise, Niantic has always ensured that the special pokemon of choice comes with a special move only obtainable from the event, and that's likely to continue.
Plus, whilst never communicated by Niantic, they've also always thrown a Shiny variant of the special Pokemon into the mix, complete with improved encounter odds, which usually carry better stats to boot.
Hopefully, the new announcement from Niantic will be just a few hours away.
News of this new Community Day event follows on from the start of the official Kanto event for Pokemon GO.
However, there are only a few more days to make the most of this event, which ends on April 17th next week. For a reminder of whats changed to the game, assuming you've not been playing this last week, here's a reminder, direct from Niantic:
"The appearance of the Mythical Pokémon Mew has attracted Pokémon that were originally discovered in the Kanto region," says Niantic on its blog.
"These classic Pokémon will be seen more frequently starting April 10 at 1 P.M. PDT, so you’ll have the perfect opportunity to earn a gold Kanto medal and even complete your Kanto Pokédex!
"What’s more, certain Pokémon such as Aerodactyl and Snorlax will be featured in Raid Battles across the world. Keep an eye out for one you haven’t encountered yet!
"As you encounter and catch more Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region, all actions will be rewarded with double Candy. So, not only will you be able to catch Pokémon you might not frequently see, but you may also get the chance to register their evolved forms in your Pokédex as well.
"During this event, there will also be special boxes containing Raid Passes! These boxes will give you an opportunity to challenge many powerful Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region."
