Pokemon GO trainers aren't short of things to do right now.
Between the new Gen 4 Pokemon release, a successful Shiny Beldum Community Day and the prospect of the Community Day November 2018 announcement coming in the days ahead there's plenty to keep players busy.
But the Pokemon GO Halloween event is still well overdue. If not necessarily to go live, but simply to just be announced in the first place.
Given that the annual Pokemon GO event would normally have started by now, we might have potentially suspected that Niantic had chosen to overlook the event in favour of launching Gen 4.
But then you'd have to discount the recent Pokemon GO newsletter, which said:
“Breaking news! Breaking news, trainers. Professor Willow reports that spooky events have occurred nearby. Could they be the work of a Ghost-type Pokemon? Stay tuned to find out.”
We ZERO updates since that newsletter, a 'leaked'' Pokemon GO blog post appears to be doing the rounds. In fact, our own personal Pokemon GO WhatsApp group had even shared it before we saw it for ourselves.
The most chilling season comes to Pokémon Go with new ghost-type Pokémon, originally discovered in the Sinnoh region.
Meet with Drifloon, Spiritomb and evolved forms of other Pokémon from other regions known both wild, incubating eggs and in the improved raids.
You may encounter a Misdreavus variocolor.
During this season enjoy the double of pokémon candies in all functions.
And to give more chills on this Halloween, from October 23 and until November 7, the ghost and dragon type Pokémon, Giratina in its origin form will reach the legendary raids.
To beat this pokémon you will need your maximum potential, so the new features will help you to give the most epic battles!
Remember to be alert to your surroundings while you enjoy exploring.

Now, although everything about the above looks fairly legit, we're still not entirely convinced by the above.
The chance of a shiny Misdreavus? Makes sense. A new wave of Gen 4 Pokemon. We can believe that. And the release of Giratina as a new raid boss, also seems perfectly legit.
BUT, unless this has been poorly typed by a third party, or translated from another post (potentially one we've seen circling on Twitter), we doubt Niantic would put out such a poorly worded blog post.
"Misdreavus variocolor" "you will need your maximum potential" "new features will help you to give the most epic battles"
It just sounds, off.
Don't get us wrong though, we think we could see the announcement of a Pokemon GO Halloween event with lots of new ghosts, shiny pokemon and Giratina as a new raid boss.
We just don't think this particular message is the one we've been waiting for.
