POKEMON GO news this week has seen the reveal of a major new update as fans prepare for the release of new Gen 3 Pocket Monsters.
Pokemon Go fans can expect a very big update to be released by Niantic that could change the game entirely.
Something that has been missing and feels much like a key component is being able to contact other players.
Legendary Pokemon Go Raids are tough as it is but are almost impossible outside of large urban areas.
While some players use other social media platforms to arrange meetups, it appears that Niantic may be taking things a step further in the future.
The company has revealed that they have acquired social media startup Evertoon, which looks set to enhance Niantic’s existing apps.
“The Niantic family is growing, and we couldn’t be more pleased to welcome a great group of people who will help evolve, challenge and grow our company in new ways,” the official Niantic announcement reveals.
“Today I am excited to announce that we have acquired the Evertoon team, who bring with them a wealth of talent and experience in mobile products, tools for creativity, and community building.
“Niniane and her team have been exploring innovative ways to add social mechanics to digital products.
“As our products and platform evolve, they will help build social systems that will benefit our entire community. We are also excited to have Niniane’s engineering leadership and team management skills, as our team grows.”
Building social systems that will benefit Niantic’s entire community sounds like a great idea, especially with the need for coordination already needed.
Evertoon's original app is set to be closed down to make way for work on Niantic’s own catalogue, but still allows for users to create controllable animated shorts with avatars.
It’s currently unknown what is being planned for Pokemon Go but controllable Pocket Monsters could give the game a new dynamic.
