Trainers have been waiting to find out one major detail about the upcoming January Community Day event.
Totodile will be the star of the three-hour celebrations and will come with a special unlockable move.
What this will be has not been confirmed yet, but Trainers expect the Pokemon Go news to drop in the coming days.
Niantic likes to leave the special move reveal till last and only have until January 12 to do so.
That’s when the big Community Day event will kick off, unleashing a wave of shiny and non-shiny, Totodiles.
But while fans are waiting on news about the special move for January, we do know something for sure.
Players won’t be able to unlock it by purchasing a second move slot on their Pokemon.
A second charge move was an option added as part of the recent PvP feature release and costs a lot of Candy and Stardust.
Some fans have been curious about how this second move slot could change things when it comes to future Community Days.
And now Niantic has provided a firm answer for players on Android and iOS devices.
“To learn the exclusive move, you must capture or Evolve the featured Pokémon during Community Day hours,” Niantic support explains.
“Using TMs or unlocking a "New Attack" on previously evolved Feraligatr will not work. Let us know if you have further queries!”
The news has been shared by fans on social media and is something that will affect players heading into the future.
“On the one hand I'm glad I can give pokemon I've already evolved a second move without fear of being locked out,” one PoGo player writes.
“On the other hand, this is yet another instance of being punished for playing the game.”
While another player adds: “Their goal is to keep people playing more, so making you go out and get a new good IV mon fits their model better than letting you upgrade the old ones.
“Also, they realise a bunch of the old high IV mon were acquired before they made inroads on neutralising scanners/maps so to some extent these events marginalise those old Pokémon by only giving event moves to the newly evolved ones.
“I don’t totally agree with their approach, but I get it.”
Some Trainers have said that they will try and see what happens with the second move slot during Community Day hours, just in case there is a glitch.
In other news, Trainers believe they may have spotted hints that a new event is coming to the game soon.
The new 2019 Loading Screen is available for everyone to see, but it appears a tease may have been hiding in plain sight.
Among the few Pokemon featured on the game art, players have noticed the inclusion of Grumpig, Swinub and Spoink.
Trainers believe this might be hinting at some kind of celebration for the Chinese New Year, as we will be entering the Year of the Pig.
Will Tuesday, February 5 include the release of a new Gen 4 Pokemon? Is there a chance that Mamoswine will be part of a new update?
Pokemon Go will have only have to wait a few more weeks to find out.
