Pokemon GO Gen 4 launched last week and now a new wave of Pokemon from the Sinnoh region are spawning in the wild as part of the games new Halloween 2018 Event.
Following the latest update it now brings the total number of new Pokemon up to 31 brand new creatures for trainers to add to their Pokedex following the launch of Gen 4. So, plenty to go before we reach the 107 Pokemon originally found in the Diamond and Pearl games.
But following the release, Niantic had an extra surprise lined up, as they told fans: “Surprise, Trainers! #PokemonGOHalloween Pikachu will also be returning to Pokémon GO for a limited time!”
Whilst no doubt great news for anyone still trying to earn that Gold Pikachu badge, It's also excellent news for anyone searching for more elusive Shiny Pokemon to capture too, because the Witch Hat Pikachu family is available as a shiny too.
Keep reading for everything you need to know for catching this new shiny.
As we mentioned before, the return of the special edition Witch Hat Pikachu isn't just limited to Pikachu.
The entire family is on the act, including Pichu and the evolved form, Raichu. However, It doesn't extend to the Alolan Raichu.
There are a whole variety of ways for you to encounter these special shiny Pokemon during the Gen 4 Halloween event.
It's worth remembering that it's not possible to encounter a Shiny Raichu in the wild, so if that's the shiny you want, you'll need to make sure to capture either a Pichu or Pikachu.
Also, this goes without saying but when you do find that Shiny Witch Pichu or Pikachu, you'll need a lot of candy to evolve yourself that Shiny Raichu.
Keep reading as we've broken down all of the potential ways you might be able to encounter these limited edition witch hat shiny Pokemon.
Witch Pichu - Is currently hatching from 2km eggs. So there's a chance of a shiny witch hat Pichu.
Witch Pikachu & Witch Raichu - Both Pokemon are not currently hatching from eggs.
At the time of writing there are no Pikachu family Pokemon available in raids. So that rules that option out.
In the Wild:
The baby Pokemon Pichu is not currently spawning in the wild. And neither is Raichu. However, the Witch Hat Pikachu is spawning everywhere!
We'd suggest that to boost your chances even more you should head over to the Silph Road Global Nest Atlas to find your nearest Pikachu nest, because obviously, the more you encounter, the higher your odds.
