Niantic is back at the teasing game, this time promising trainers something called an Ultra Bonus Unlock if because they completed all the challenges set for them during the Safari Zone events.
"Due to the amazing achievements of Trainers all over the world, an Ultra Bonus will be coming soon," reads an email published by Niantic.
"We will be announcing this action-packed bonus after Moltres Day and give more details about what all of your hard work with Professor Willow has earned."
There is currently no indication as to what this bonus is - but speculative fans have theories.
Some players believe it'll be our first look at Gen 4 Pokemon - we're on the cusp of having these revealed, and giving us our first taste of a Gen 4 Pokemon via an event reward seems to make sense.
In Germany, however, a leaked message seems to reveal that the bonus will be announced on September 10.
“With dedication and enthusiasm, Trainers all around the world have finished a multitude of field research for Professor Willow and therefore unlocked an ultra-bonus-event,” the reported message reads.
“A special announcement for this event, which will be held on September 10, will follow soon.”
This seems to suggest the bonus is an event, rather than a new Pokemon encounter or similar.
Other theories knocking around on r/TheSilphRoad and r/PokemonGO suggest that the event could be a Mewtwo Day - giving us a shot at the Shiny legendary Pokemon, as well as a plethora of other increase Shiny odds on the day.
Whatever the event is, we'll find out soon - usually before 6pm in UK time.
The event will likely take place before the next Community Day, which takes place on September 22.
The September event focuses on Chikorita, with increased odds of encountering the Pokemon as a Shiny.
