Since announcing their marriage in June this year, Lin Chi-ling and EXILE’s Akira have been busy with work, with Chi-ling making event appearances all around the world as her husband mainly focused on his career in Japan.
Akira made his first public appearance since tying the knot at the 2019 Kaohsiung Film Festival in Taiwan. The 38-year-old, who plays the lead character in Under The Starry Sky, Beautiful, one of the films shown at the festival, shared his excitement at being in Kaohsiung for the first time. When asked for his favourite food, the singer-actor expressed his love for mala duck blood.
As his character is shown falling in love and eventually starting a family with the female lead, the questions soon turned to Akira’s real-life love story.
Noting the parallels between his real and reel lives, Akira said, “This film [reminds us] that we should cherish the little romantic moments in our lives that can pass us by easily. [Personally,] I wish to take things more seriously in the future, to do better.”
The topic of discussion soon turned to Chi-ling, with a reporter asking Akira about his character, who carefully tends to a pot of flowers in the film.
“The way I view that pot of flowers is just like how I view Chi-ling,” he said, before adding with a laugh, “I feel like that was the answer you wanted me to give, so I said it!”
Chi-ling and Akira first got to know each other eight years ago, when they starred alongside each other in the play, Red Cliff.
