It seems to be breakup season for the celebs as two high-profile splits were announced in the past week. Hours after Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo confirmed that they were in the midst of a divorce, Fan Bingbing and Li Chen shared that they have broken up and are back to being just friends.
And now, Hong Kong actress Angelababy and Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming are caught up in yet another round of divorce rumours, with Chinese media reports claiming that the couple will be formally announcing their divorce soon.
They added that the pair’s appearance at a Shanghai event last month, which was widely hailed as their indirect denial of the divorce rumours, was all for show. This was supported by reports that despite their lovey-dovey interactions during the event, Angelababy left the venue in a separate car.
The reports added that the couple’s relationship started to get strained last August, when Xiaoming was implicated in a stock manipulation scandal. The actor confirmed that he had a stock trading account in China, which was handled by his mother, who in turn entrusted it to someone else and was ultimately managed by a man named Gao Yong.
Gao Yong was later found guilty of stock manipulation, but Xiaoming issued a statement declaring that he was not directly involved and that he was not under investigation for it. However, his image has since taken a hit and the scandal is frequently brought up.
Angelababy’s work studio issued a short statement in response to the reports, declaring that they are “too fake (to be true).”
