Remember last year, when Taiwanese actress Ariel Lin declared that she’d be cutting back on work to start a family with her businessman husband Charles Lin? It was a decision that was very well-received by her fans as the 37-year-old star had mentioned on multiple occasions since she got married in December 2014 that she wants to have a baby.
Fast forward a year later, and although Ariel has stuck to her guns and turned down enough job offers that could have earned her enough money — so her manager claims — "to build several buildings”, her baby-making plans haven’t been smooth-sailing. The reason? She hasn’t seen Charles in two months.
“It’s been too dangerous to fly, so [Charles] has been looking after himself and avoiding going out too much [while he’s in the US for work],” shared Ariel. “We don’t know when he’ll be back yet, and we might have to wait for the summer holidays to be over before he can return.”
Summer holidays in Taiwan ends in late August, which would mean that the couple might not be able to see each other for a total of six months.
“This is likely to be the longest period of time we’ve been apart," sighed Ariel. "But we keep in touch by texting each other throughout the day.”
This was when a journo asked, rather insensitively, we must say, if that meant that their baby-making plans would have to wait. Upon hearing the question, Ariel smiled weakly and said: “What do you think?”
According to Ariel, without her husband around, she now has more time to for activities like Zumba and hiking. “I’m feel better [after exercising] and I think I’ve become more muscular too. I go hiking once in the morning and once at night [when there are fewer people around], and I’ve only run into three groups of people during my trips so far.”
