South Korean rapper and BIGBANG member G-Dragon (aka GD) will be enlisting on February 27, according to his agency, YG Entertainment.
Breaking the news on Valentine’s Day yesterday (Feb 14) his agency added that there will be no official farewell event, as the rapper plans to enlist quietly without any chaos taking place that day.
GD is the second BIGBANG member to enlist for his mandatory military service, after bandmate T.O.P.
In BIGBANG’s last concert held in Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul at the end of last year (Dec 31), GD shared his feelings with fans about his upcoming enlistment.
“Just like how spring will come after winter, I hope everyone will not be sad, and stay healthy until we meet again,” the 30-year-old rapper said.
GD was previously accused of purposefully avoiding military enlistment by applying for a PhD programme in graduate school.
Newly-married BIGBANG member Taeyang has also confirmed that he will be enlisting on March 12, and that like GD, he will also be enlisting as an active-duty soldier.
