Hongkong star Cecilia Cheung’s fashion boutique, SeeCeciStreet, has become the latest business casualty of COVID-19.

According to reports, the 39-year-old’s shop will be closed indefinitely, or at least until the epidemic dies down.

The news comes shortly after it was revealed that her ex-husband, Nicholas Tse, had closed all brick and mortar shops of his cookie business, Chef Nic’s Cookies. One of Nic’s outlets is said to be located some 100m from Ceci’s shop.

When reporters visited Ceci's boutique, they were surprised to see that there were still people working inside. When they reached out to Ceci’s manager, Emily, she confirmed that the store located in central Hongkong had been closed since Chinese New Year, and that the staff had only returned to do some cleaning up.

Unlike many of the businesses affected by the outbreak, Emily clarified that none of their staff were forced to take unpaid leave.

"When the epidemic first started, Ceci told her employees not to go back to work because safety is the most important thing,” Emily said, adding that Ceci had instructed them to go in at staggered timings in order to minimise contact with other people if they had to go to the store.

It was also reported that Ceci has been losing “hundreds of thousands of dollars” since her shop’s closure a month ago but they are in no hurry to resume business.

“There are no plans, it depends on the situation,” Emily said.

In the meantime, Cecilia and her three sons — Lucas, 12, Quintus, 10, and Marcus, 2 — have been spending most of their time at home.

However, the boys have been feeling restless so Cecilia decided to take Quintus out for a quick shopping trip, which she documented on her IG stories.

"I haven't been out on the streets for a long time. Now that I’m out for the first time, we’re going to the toy store to buy toys. My son is so happy!” said Cecilia, who was wearing a mask. “We snapped up the toys in 10 minutes and left!"

“I am so happy!” Quintus laughed as he picked out several boxes of toys, including a ride on toy car that's presumably for Marcus.

At the end of Ceci’s IG posts, she was seen disinfecting the soles of her son’s shoes before heading home.
