There’s been plenty of talk of celebrity couple Huang Xiaoming and Angelababy heading for splitsville. Although the couple has denied it multiple times, divorce rumours have not gone away, with Chinese media going as far to claim that they have finalised their divorce.
At the recent CCTV Mid-Autumn Festival Gala, both Angelababy and Huang Xiaoming were in attendance, but surprised many when they performed separately. Interviews conducted after the programme ended were also done separately.
The reports further alleged that they requested for separate rooms at the hotel that they were staying at, and appeared at the airport at different times.
Netizens pointed out that there was no need for them to avoid being seen together as they have been married for some time, and wondered if there was any truth behind the Chinese reports.
Adding fuel to the fire was a claim that the pair filed for divorce because Xiaoming wanted to avoid paying additional taxes. The report shared that Xiaoming decided to do so after it was announced that the entertainment industry would be heavily taxed, and by filing for divorce, he and Angelababy would not be liable to pay tax on assets under her name.
They went on to share that Angelababy has since refused to register their marriage again. Painting Angelababy as an opportunist who only used Xiaoming for his popularity at the time of their marriage, they shared that she is now confident that she is popular enough to survive in showbiz on her own.
As for the reason behind their refusal to admit that they have divorced, the media revealed that the pair has signed multiple endorsement deals as a couple, and want to avoid paying the penalty fee for uncoupling.
