February hasn’t been good to the cast and crew of TVB drama, Legal Mavericks 2.
TVB announced that an unnamed individual had vomited in one of their sets. In response, the broadcaster doubled on up their cleaning efforts and went on to disinfect the entire campus. According to the press release, priority was given to Studios 4, 11, and 12. TVB also reiterated the need for all individuals entering their grounds to undergo a mandatory temperature screening.
Soon after the announcement, an insider revealed that all five of Legal Mavericks 2’s lead actors, Vincent Wong, Owen Cheung, Sisley Choi, Jessica Kan and Kelly Cheung had called in sick, sparking concerns that there had been a Wuhan coronavirus outbreak on set.
However, TVB quickly shot down the rumours, sharing that an extra had come down with a case of gastroenteritis. As a result, there was a need to disinfect the premises. They also stressed that the extra had not travelled overseas recently, and was not suffering from the Wuhan virus. According to TVB, Studio 4 was used to film a variety show, while Studio 11 contained the sets for the sitcom, Come Home Love: Lo and Behold.
When reached for a comment, Vincent clarified that he was suffering from a sore throat. He also reassured everyone that while he did not have the flu, he decided to call in sick just to be safe.
The 36-year-old actor shared that he only returned to work once he had recovered. As for the other actors, he explained that it was merely a case of fatigue, as their shoot the previous day was done outdoors. After enduring the cold wind the entire day, most of the cast developed headaches and dizzy spells.
“It’s not that we wish to skive off, or that we intentionally wanted to stop filming. We want to prioritise our health, so that we can remain accountable to those around us, and our family,” Vincent said.
The producer for Come Home Love: Lo and Behold, Lin Jianxiang, also shared that they have been disinfecting the entire building every day before work starts. While the extra suffering from gastroenteritis had not worked on the sitcom, he had walked past the studio where they film Come Home Love, which was why it was necessary to disinfect the studio. But he declined to share which studio the extra had worked in, saying that he was not present when the incident happened.
