It is no secret that Jackie Chan has a feud with a fellow actress that he has hated for the past 22 years. The actress was later revealed to be ex co-star Anita Yuen. However, on Friday (Aug 18), Anita posted a photo of her and Jackie on Weibo and announced that the two of them had made up.
The conflict began back in 1995 when the two co-starred in the movie Thunderbolt. Jackie had spoken out about his unhappiness with Anita, a rookie who had a bad attitude and rude manners on set. He even told a few directors to dismiss her, making Anita Jackie’s number one enemy from then on.
Anita’s Weibo post later revealed that she had been confused for the past two decades about the reason behind Jackie’s hatred for her and had fellow actor Eric Tsang to thank for his arrangements, which finally allowed her to know the truth.
Jackie and Eric had arranged a dinner for artistes to talk about the issues they had when working in Mainland China. The invitation was initially only given to her husband, Julian Cheng but after hearing that Jackie would be there, she asked for an invitation to take the opportunity and clear things up with him personally.
When Jackie heard that Anita would be present, he also generously prepared some film reels from Thunderbolt as a gift for her, indicating that the animosity between the two was over.
After learning the reason behind his decade long grudge, Anita apologised for upsetting Jackie and also admitted that her past behaviour was unacceptable as she was still very new and did not know much. However with everything out in the open, it seems that the two have let bygones be bygones and mended their relationship and have now become friends.
