Taiwanese rock band Mayday made headlines when they announced seven concerts in Shanghai. Their shows, which will be held at the Hongkou Football Stadium, can accommodate up to 33,000 guests per day.
With shows on October 25, 26, 27, 31, along with November 1, 2 and 3, many were curious to know if they would be inviting some of their famous friends to add even more star power to the gigs.
On October 14, a rumoured guest list was leaked on Weibo, immediately causing much excitement as it includes many of the top names in the industry. Among those mentioned are Jay Chou, Jolin Tsai, Wang Leehom, JJ Lin, Stefanie Sun, Angela Zhang and TFBOYS’ Jackson.
This list saw many netizens remarking that it was unsurprising for Mayday, who have established themselves as one of the biggest names in music, to be able to invite such remarkable guests to their show.
“I’m sure the guests are busy too. For them to make time to attend Mayday’s show is amazing in itself. Now I’m even more excited to attend!” one wrote.
However, this list has not been verified, and with a little under two weeks to go to the first show, fans are waiting with bated breath to see if these artistes will appear at the concerts.
Causing even more excitement was the possibility that Jay Chou’s latest song, ‘Won’t Cry’, which features Mayday’s frontman, Ashin, might be performed at the concert. “If they go on the day that I’m not there, I think I’ll regret it for life,” one netizen lamented, while another added, “You’re lucky, because I don’t have tickets. You have a one in seven chance to hear them perform it live, while my chances are absolutely zero.”
