Just when we thought our urge to travel again was already bad enough, Hongkong singer-actress Karen Mok’s recent social media posts popped up and sent our wanderlust into overdrive. The 50-year-old is currently vacationing in Italy with her husband, German finance executive Johannes Natterer, and has been sharing loads of gorgeous shots from the ridiculously picturesque Lake Como.
“Every time I go to Italy, it always brings back a lot of good memories for me,” she wrote in her Weibo post. “Being able to spend time with my beloved in the fairyland-like Lake Como is something that I really must cherish.”
But, wait a minute — what about the COVID-19 threat? And where is her mask? Many fans appeared to express the same concern, so Karen made sure to reassure them by saying that she and her husband kept their masks on at all times and only removed them while taking pictures.
According to Lake Como’s official website, many safety measures have also been implemented in the area, including the usual temperature screenings, 1m distancing and mask-wearing rules, and mandatory bookings for attractions, so if everyone is responsible, we think Karen and Johannes should be fine (and we doubt her hotel would try to auction her used sheets like what happened in China last year).
Despite being away on holiday, Karen hasn’t forgotten to do her part for coronavirus relief efforts. She recently released a limited edition CD package of her latest Cantonese single, ‘Breathing is Hazardous’ in Hongkong, and proceeds from the sales will be donated to those in the entertainment industry whose livelihoods have been affected by the pandemic.
If all goes well, Hongkong fans might also be able to see the diva on stage again next year. Organisers of the final stop of The Ultimate Karen Mok Show tour, which was supposed to take place in March, have made another application to continue with the concert in 2021. Of course, it all depends on the virus situation (the city is currently grappling with a third wave of infections).
