Karena Ng Denies Rumours That She’s Jealous Of Co-Star Myolie Wu Getting Nicer Outfits To Wear In New Drama
Hongkong actress Myolie Wu’s big TV comeback was announced less than two months ago, but there’s already drama surrounding her return. Or so some reports claim.
In April this year, it was reported that Myolie will be playing a sex therapist in upcoming ViuTV drama, tentatively titled Mature And Sophisticated Strong Woman. The drama also stars actresses Karena Ng, Paulyn Sun, Carrie Ng, Sharon Luk and Jeana Ho.
However, sources are claiming that there’s discord brewing between Karena and Myolie. According to reports, Karena, 26, who is playing a dessert chef, is displeased that Myolie, 40, is given nicer clothes to wear on screen.
It was also alleged that despite her displeasure at the favouritism shown towards Myolie, Karena still acts like “an enamoured fan” when she's near the latter.
However, an insider shared with the media that there's a very logical explanation as to why Myolie's character is dressed better. “Myolie's character is a professional working woman, so her clothes are naturally more elevated [in style]. Additionally, a lot of the clothes Myolie’s wearing on-set comes from her personal collection, there’s no way [the stylists] are biased towards Myolie,” said the insider.
It was also rumoured that two stylists working on the drama had tendered their resignations to protest Karena’s complaints.
When reached for a comment, Myolie said that she has no idea of Karena’s reported jealousy.
“That's weird? I’ve been working well with the crew both on and off set,” Myolie replied. Karena also denied the reports, saying: “The only time we talked about our costumes was when we discussed the style of swimsuits [I was going to wear] during a beach scene.”
Karena also added that she’s very satisfied with the work of the stylists, and that there is absolutely no bad blood between them, nor did any stylist resign recently.
