After calling it quits with Taiwanese singer Kenji Wu in 2015, Hong Kong socialite Laurinda Ho has not gone public with any of her love interests. In January this year, the 27-year-old shared that she was “currently single” and that she was not actively looking for love.
However, last Sunday (April 28), pictures of Chinese actor Shawn Dou kissing an unidentified female in an elevator was released. Though the female in the pictures were rumoured to be Laurinda, many were skeptical of the claims.
Shawn and Laurinda soon confirmed the rumour that they were dating by addressing each other in their posts, referring to each other as “babe”.
Hong Kong singer G.E.M., who has always had a close relationship with Laurinda, also left a comment on Shawn’s post, writing, “Treat her well,” showing her approval of the couple’s relationship.
Shawn later replied to G.E.M.’s comment, with a “I will take good care of your wife,”, with Laurinda adding, “Why do I feel like I’m going to cry?” Laurinda also joked that G.E.M. has now become her “ex-boyfriend”.
Shawn and Laurinda had previously attended an promotional event together, although the 27-year-old had referred to Shawn as her “friend" at that time.
Shawn, who was born in China, moved to Canada when he was 10, with his family. The 30-year-old first shot to fame for his role in the 2010 movie, The Love of the Hawthorn Tree, and is most known for his role in the 2017 drama, Princess Agents.
In 2016, he was rumoured to be in a relationship with Chinese model Ming Xi, who is currently dating Laurinda’s younger brother, Mario.
However, Ming Xi took to her Weibo on Sunday to clarify that she was merely “colleagues" with Shawn. She also relayed her well-wishes for the new couple, wishing them happiness.
