There’s been plenty of cheating scandals in showbiz over the years — Show Luo and Andy Hui are just two of more recent examples — which has led some to believe that good men, especially those who are celebrities, are all but extinct. However, Hongkong actors Moses Chan, 49, and Wayne Lai, 56, will beg to differ with both saying that it’s not hard to resist temptation and stay faithful.
In case you don't know, Moses married Aimee Chan in 2013 and the couple has three children, Aiden Joshua Chan, seven, Nathan Lucas Chan, five, and Camilla Chan, four. Wayne tied the knot with his manager Julia Leung 23 years ago and they have a son, Lai Ching Kiu, who is now 21.
Moses and Wayne recently did an interview together with Hongkong media to promote their new TVB drama Death By Zero, where they play hitmen who are also popular with the ladies. They were then asked if they share that same quality with their characters.
Wayne immediately quipped: “I don’t think I have what it takes [to be popular with women]! The director gave me a chance to live a life like this [in the drama] probably because he knows that I don’t enjoy such [a lifestyle] in real life.”
Moses, however, gave a more thoughtful answer. “I feel that Wayne and I are both able to differentiate right from wrong. If we sense that there’s something strange going on, we’ll [be on our guard] and leave (…) It’s easy to [sense] when something is wrong. If someone is testing the waters with you but you don’t respond [in the way that they want you to], they’ll back off on their own,” he said.
Wayne then took the opportunity to poke fun at Moses for hinting that he's been on the receiving end of indecent offers. “I’ve never experienced [anything like that]," he said.
“I’ve never encountered such incidents in all my years [as an actor], which is why I don't understand why people say that showbiz is [full of temptations]," he added. "I go to work and head home after I wrap up for the day. It’s like attending school, with the only difference being that I don’t have to put on a uniform.”
