Many South Korean stars attended the 2018 Korean Popular Culture & Arts Awards in Seoul on October 24.
Something in the Rain (also known as Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food) star Son Ye Jin, who was one of the Prime Minister’s Commendations recipients, was asked who she would like to take out for dinner, and answered BTS. "But there are too many members, I can't decide which member to choose!" she quipped.
BTS became the youngest ever recipients of the Order of Cultural Merit for their contribution to the promotion of Korean pop culture worldwide. "I attribute all this glory to ARMYs," said leader RM during his acceptance speech, referring to the group's dedicated fandom.
Jin said he feels very proud of the fact that many people sing their songs in Korean overseas; V gushed that his family must be feeling very proud of him; Suga declared that they will promote Korean music with the mindset of nation's ambassadors; Jimin vowed that they will do their best to be a positive influence; Jungkook said that they will accept this award gratefully as a motivation to work harder; and J-Hope said that they will continue putting on good performances to become the hope of pop culture.
Other artistes that were honoured at the ceremony include Red Velvet and Kim Tae Ri (Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Commendations), the late actor Kim Joo Hyuk (Prime Minister’s Commendations), and Yoo Jae Suk (Presidential Commendation), who recently welcomed his second child.
