Retired Screen Goddess Cherie Chung Turns 60; Fans Can’t Get Over How Good She Still Looks2/20/2020 Former screen siren Cherie Chung, who was one of Asian cinema’s greatest beauties before her sudden retirement in 1994, turned 60 on February 16. And boy, does she still look great.
On February 17, the Peking Opera Blues and Once A Thief star shared several pictures on Weibo of at least two birthday gatherings she had with her friends, including Hongkong singer-actress Kelly Chen and Singaporean-born food critic Chua Lam. “Thank you to everyone for your blessings,” Cherie wrote. “My birthday wish this year is for everyone to be healthy and safe!” Can she wish for us to look as good as her at her age too? Before long, her Weibo was flooded with well-wishes and, of course, compliments. “Beautiful people will never be defeated by the years,” wrote one netizen, while another pointed out that, amazingly, Cherie looks about as young as Kelly, who is 13 years her junior. If anyone’s wondering what her age-defying secret is, well, it isn't a good plastic surgeon. Cherie has claimed that she has never undergone any cosmetic procedures and that she believes in “learning to accept one’s true self”. “Recognise the fact that everyone ages, but don’t let that stop you from looking for the joys in your life; that is also a form of happiness,” she said.
