Ruby Lin’s Husband Wallace Huo And Ex-Boyfriend Jimmy Lin Celebrated The Dragon Boat Festival Together
Thursday (Jun 25) was Dragon Boat Festival and while many celebs commemorated the occasion by posting photos with their rice dumplings, '90s pop idol Jimmy Lin took to Instagram to share a selfie with Taiwanese stars Eddy Ou and Wallace Huo at his home.
What surprised fans, though, was his unlikely friendship with Wallace, who is the husband of Jimmy’s ex, Taiwanese actress Ruby Lin.
Netizens couldn’t help but remark how “cool” the actors are to be hanging out together and that this was the “gathering of the century”.
“The ex and the present! [Their] maturity is real,” wrote one netizen, while others wanted to know where Ruby was.
Jimmy and Ruby famously dated after meeting on the set of 1993 teen movie School Days. It was reportedly love at first sight for Ruby, who was then 19. The couple drifted apart when Jimmy enlisted in the army and Ruby shifted the focus of her career to China after shooting to fame in the massive 1998 hit My Fair Princess.
Jimmy, 45, previously revealed that they split because Ruby was “too good at attracting members of the opposite sex”. The actress, on the other hand, claimed that Jimmy got jealous and broke up with her after she praised her My Fair Princess co-star Alec Su's good looks.
While there was no sign of the 44-year-old actress at the boys' gathering, she did post this photo of a marker pen-scrawled egg standing on its end, with the caption: “Though it’s already past noon, I managed to make the egg stand. Happy Dragon Boat Festival!”
Besides eating rice dumplings, egg balancing is a traditional practice during the Dragon Boat Festival in Taiwan and the chances of success are believed to be higher at noon.
But what caught the attention of netizens were the doodles on her egg, with many asking if that was her three-year-old daughter's doing. One netizen also, um, egged Ruby to balance the egg on a smooth surface 'cos that would make the task more difficult.
It seems there were also fans who were skeptical that she had really pulled off the trick 'cos minutes later, Ruby posted these pics, writing: “Adding photos as proof. I’m really the one who made it stand.”
After all, pics or it didn't happen, right?
