In short: Park Bo Gum has reportedly accepted the male lead role in upcoming drama Boyfriend, and Song Hye Kyo is said to be co-starring as the female lead.
In detail: According to news reports, Park Bo Gum will play a character named Kim Jin Hyuk, who is an average man juggling various part-time jobs. When he gets rejected by multiple companies, he goes overseas and meets Song Hye Kyo’s character, Cha Soo Hyun.
Soo Hyun is a divorced mother who comes from a wealthy family. Her happiness was sacrificed when she was forced into marriage to boost her father’s career. She has one child with her husband, but is eventually abandoned by him.
If rumours of their pairing prove to be true, this will be their first drama since their respective 2016 hits, Descendants of The Sun and Love In The Moonlight. Boyfriend is expected to air in the second half of the year.
Fun fact: Bo Gum is also Hye Kyo’s husband Song Joong Ki’s BFF in real life. Now, we wonder what Joong Ki thinks of this new ‘power couple’ pairing.
