Summer Meng's younger brother dies in apparent suicide

Taiwanese actress Summer Meng’s 23-year-old brother, Meng Geng De was reported to have ended his life earlier this week in their family home. The news caught everyone by surprise, especially Summer, who is known to have a good relationship with her younger brother.

When contacted for a comment, Summer replied through her manager, “I’m fine, thank you for your concern. I will take good care of my family and myself.”

Her manager added, “She’s really upset, but staying strong. Right now, she’s taking care of her family matters, as well as her theatre show, The Flower Eater."

In late February, Summer posted a photograph of herself and her brother. “Our family doesn’t ask for much. We just want you to be safe and happy. I'll always love you,“ her caption read.

​Filming for Summer’s latest drama has just ended, and she will be performing The Flower Eaters this Saturday (March 30) as scheduled. The 27-year-old has cleared all other activities from her schedule has so that she can be with her family.

Summer’s fiancé, Taiwanese host Mickey Huang shared," The Meng family is busy handling the funeral, and also trying to come to terms with what has happened. I hope that everyone can emphatize with them. I won't be commenting about this matter and I'll be trying to carry on with my life as per usual, while being by (Summer's) side during this difficult time."

Geng De is said to have been suffering from depression, and was found to be unresponsive by his family members at 5am on October 20. The family called the emergency hotline, but Geng De's heart had reportedly stopped by the time medical personnel arrived at the scene.
