Two months after the passing of Taiwanese celebrity dancer Serena Liu Zhen, actress Cynthia Khan is still mourning the death of her best friend. This morning (Jun 9), Cynthia took to Facebook to pay tribute to Serena on what would have been her 45th birthday.

“Serena, this is the first time you are not around on your birthday. I miss you so much. When I think of your coquettish voice and your sweet smile, it brings back memories of the times we spent together. Even though it really hurts, you will always live on in my heart,” wrote Cynthia, who also posted photos of Serena from a past birthday celebration.

“Recently, I was faced with a crisis and I believe you were watching over me from above, keeping me safe and helping me overcome it. Being the kind and gentle soul that you are, you will be the most beautiful and happiest angel. I will embrace your blessing and face life with a smile. I thank God for this relationship. We are forever sisters. Happy birthday, Serena.”

After the Cynthia shared her heartfelt tribute, fans took to the comments section to send their birthday wishes to Serena, as well as leave messages of support.

“I understand how it feels to lose a close friend. Serena will take comfort in knowing she has a good friend in you,” one comment read.

"Good morning Cynthia, you have to stay strong. Serena is resting in heaven now and will be happy. Do not cry for Serena as this will sadden her. She would want you to let go and be happy too. You have to step out of the sadness and take care of yourself. Happy birthday, Serena," said another.

Dubbed the 'queen of ballroom dancing', Serena passed away on March 22 after slipping into a coma after her heart stopped beating during a heart valve repair surgery at Taipei Veterans General Hospital.

She is survived by her husband, Taiwanese singer Shin Lung, and their four-year-old daughter Ni Ni.
