Taiwanese singer-actor Vanness Wu and Singaporean socialite Arissa Cheo have officially and legally ended their marriage, five years after they tied the knot.
According to Taiwanese media reports on February 21, the ex-couple signed the divorce papers in December last year. It was also revealed that Arissa did not ask for alimony.
When contacted for more details, Arissa confirmed that the divorce has been finalised, but did not elaborate further. Vanness’s label, Universal Music Group, also declined to comment, saying that “a marriage is between two people”. They also urged the public to give the former couple some space.
Vanness and Arissa registered their marriage in Singapore in November 2013, before holding a lavish, star-studded ceremony in the United States that same month. However, rumours that their relationship was on the rocks started circulating just a year later, and continued to plague them again and again.
In June last year, Arissa issued a statement through her lawyer confirming that the pair has indeed gone their separate ways. It was also revealed that Vanness sent her divorce papers in May, but Arissa did not sign them as she disagreed with the reason for divorce.
A second set of papers was then sent out, with the amended reasons for divorce being that Arissa did not support Vanness’s career, and that the duo had irreconcilable differences.
