Jeon Somi terminates contract with JYP Entertainment

​JYP Entertainment released a shocking statement that they and Jeon Somi, who was number one on the first season of Produce 101 and a member of its project group I.O.I, have come to a mutual agreement to terminate her contract. No reason was given for the sudden cancellation.

Soon after news of her departure broke, Somi’s father had an exclusive interview with a Korean media outlet, where he revealed that the entire family was present during discussions with JYP, and that it was an amicable meeting with handshakes, hugs and even ice cream. Somi herself had also updated her Instagram page for the first time in almost three months, writing, “The darkest nights produce the brightest stars…You guys are my everything…Love you lotsss (sic)”

Well, whatever it is she will be up to next, we wish Somi all the best. After all, when one door closes, another opens.
